In Like a Lion...

It's that time of year, spring is around the corner and if you're in the northeast, like me, you're sick of winter. But why do we always kid ourselves that March will go out like a lamb? Where I am, it's definitely still winter.

Why is winter so exhausting?

The short days, dark clouds and cold temperatures definitely don't help. It always feels like it drags and when March rolls around with the hope of spring and never delivers, I question the old saying of 'in like a lion, out like a lamb'. In my experience, March comes in like a lion and leaves the same way (yes, it's snowing as I type this and it's March 29th).

It's not all bad, right?

Personally, I love the winter and am always excited when it starts. By the end, like everyone else, I'm ready to put the coats away and play in the warm sunshine, but I do enjoy the winter for the most part. I've also learned winter is best with little kids. They throw on snow pants and boots, hats and gloves and dive into the snow with glee - a good reminder to enjoy it while we can.

This morning, even my kids were disappointed it was snowing. As the saying goes, 'from the mouths of babes', right?
