Revisiting Our Mission and Vision

A year ago I wrote a blog post about the PBJ Pickup mission and vision, specifically should we have one? At the time, I didn't think so.

Does PBJ Pickup have a mission & vision?

The answer is no. It's been a year since I last wrote about this and I honestly haven't thought about it again until now. Being a small company, it's been easy to keep our priorities straight without writing it down. We prioritize our customers, treat them like partners, and make our product as easy to use as possible. It's that simple.

Why does it matter?

I like the idea of a mission and vision, a focus for our work but I also think it isn't always necessary. Also, how many people really focus on the mission or vision of the companies they work with, or work for? Creating a good culture is about more than a few altruistic sentences. I'm choosing to focus on actions for now, not so much writing it out in words (blogging irony aside).

We may roll out a mission and vision one day, but for now it continues to be a low priority. The top of all our lists is the same - keeping our customers happy. Maybe that's our mission?
